About The Department
Year of Establishment: 1995
The department of Economics was established in the year 1995 and the Department of Economics started with general courses 1995. There was huge demand of Economics as it supports in competitive examinations and helps in understanding the culture of the country and the locality, presently and most of the time there were two teachers in the department and now one assistant professor in the department, our department has produced students who are catering different capacities in the different part of the state. to make our student understand the department well and the subject better. We organized debate, seminar and we help them with the reading materials. Also, the students were guided by the teachers as relation of the mentor, and the Mentee and additional classes were also engaged to make them understand the subject better.
The Department of Economics has been an integral part of the academic landscape since its establishment in 1995. With a focus on providing general courses, it responded to the high demand for economics education, which is valuable not only for competitive examinations but also for understanding the cultural and socio-economic dynamics of the country and locality. Despite the reduction in the number of teachers over time, the department has remained committed to its mission of providing quality education. The mentor-mentee relationship between teachers and students, along with additional classes, debates, seminars, and reading materials, has enriched the learning experience, ensuring that students grasp the subject matter effectively.
The department’s efforts have borne fruit, evident in the success of its alumni who are contributing in various capacities across the state as well as all over the countries. This holistic approach to education, combining theoretical knowledge with practical guidance and engagement, reflects a commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to tackle real-world challenges.
Our Vision
Our vision is to empower our first-generation learners from rural backgrounds by providing them with comprehensive study materials in Economics, fostering their reading, writing, and analytical skills. Our aim to equip them with essential knowledge in Economics, emphasizing market dynamics, national income, economic development, tourism and statistics, preparing them for the evolving job market. We focus on tourism in the Northern Hill region near our college and our target is to engage students in this profession, leveraging local attractions to boost their career opportunities in tourism.
Again, we strive to cultivate their economic acumen, essential for navigating today’s employment landscape. Through engaging in activities such as debates, quizzes, internal exam, and group discussions, we encourage the development of their critical thinking and research skills, enabling them to conduct independent inquiries.
Moreover, we aim to instill in them a sense of social responsibility, fostering values of cooperation, sacrifice, and empathy towards the people of backward areas. By nurturing their economic understanding and critical thinking. we envision our students becoming conscientious and proactive citizens, capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
Our Mission
We implemented of ICT-enabled classes via platforms like Google Meet, embracing a hybrid teaching approach. Cultivation of economic knowledge and critical thinking through our movie club, screening films related to economic texts and works by esteemed directors worldwide.
Facilitation of student seminars, workshops, debates, writing competitions, and exhibitions to bolster communicative skills.
Rules and Regulations
- Identity Card Requirement: All students must carry their identity cards with them while on campus and produce them upon demand by college authorities.
- Mobile Phone Policy: The use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited within the college campus.
- Participation in College Events: Students must attend popular lectures, seminars, debates, and functions organized by the college for overall personality development.
- Engagement in Extra-Curricular Activities: Active participation in extra-curricular activities organized by the college is expected from all students.
- Parking Regulations: Students are required to park their vehicles in designated parking stands only, and bicycles must be secured with proper lock systems.
- Academic Responsibilities: Completion of home assignments, tests, tutorials, and seminars is mandatory.
- Notice Board Awareness: Students must regularly check notices and circulars displayed on college notice boards regarding all activities, including examinations, scholarships, and placement opportunities.
- Dress Code Compliance: Adherence to the prescribed dress code is compulsory for all students.
- Mandatory Attendance: Attendance in each class is compulsory.
- Classroom Etiquette: During class hours, students cannot leave the classroom without the consent of the concerned teacher.
- Internal Assessment Policy: Absence from tests, assessments, or instructional exercises, as well as non-submission of assignments on time, will render a student ineligible for internal marks, without exceptions.
- Utilization of Break Hours: During break hours, students are encouraged to utilize the library and computer lab facilities.
- Ban on Tobacco and Plastic: Smoking and the use of tobacco are strictly prohibited on college premises. Additionally, the college premises are to remain plastic-free.
