Message From HOD

The English department with various courses- Major, Minor, MDC, DSE, DSC, GE, SEC, and LCC- one strives to impart education to students in literature, language and writing. The department believes that since English is the global language of communication and has been a major requirement in the job market, all students should improve their oral and written communication skill in English in order to be able to compete in today’s highly competitive world. Listening, speaking, reading and writing- all the requisites of language learning are integrated in the course delivery to ensure a balanced development of language skills. The department offers courses under the syllabus of the University of North Bengal, which gives students the opportunity to enhance their intellectual and emotional understanding of human nature and also to hone their analytical, descriptive and interpretative writing skills. Students are encouraged to expand their horizons through broad and intensive reading. Group discussions, PPT presentations, paper reading sessions, wall magazines- are some of the activities organised by the department to give students a platform to express their ideas, talents and skills. The department is like a family where special emphasis is laid by all the faculty members on maintaining an excellent rapport with the students. This in turn serves to inspire them to strive for the best. We hope that the department of English is able to create a conducive atmosphere to learning and teaching and goes from strength to strength in the future.
