About The Department
Year of Establishment: 1988
Established in 1981 with a pass course and later expanding to include an honors course in 1994, the Department of Bengali at Siliguri Mahila Mahavidyalaya has been a cornerstone of academic excellence and cultural enrichment in the region. Over the years, the department has witnessed significant growth and evolution, marked by the adoption of modern pedagogical methods, the nurturing of student talent, and a commitment to holistic development.
The introduction of the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in 2018 marked a pivotal moment in the department’s academic journey, aligning its curriculum with contemporary educational standards and ensuring flexibility and diversity in learning.
