About The Department
Year of Establishment: 1+1+1 General 2012-13, CBCS Honours 2018-19
The Department of Mathematics started with one faculty member and with twenty students offering only B. Sc. General degree course with the three elective subjects Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry in the academic session 2012-2013 affiliated to University of North Bengal. After six years of establishment, in the academic year 2018-2019, the Department of Mathematics elevated from General degree course to Honours degree course catering to higher mathematics with four students initiated by two faculty members.
Currently, the department has one (01) substantive faculty member and one (01) SACT-II (State Aided College Teacher category-II). Good number of quality research papers are published by the departmental faculty members in various national and international journals with high impact factors in different fields like Cosmology, General Topology, Bio-Mathematics etc.
Our key endeavor is to provide high quality teaching towards the students and motivating them in the quality research and their establishment. Besides that, the department organizes students’ seminars, quiz competitions, poster presentations where students can express themselves and stay upto date. Students always can reach their teachers who are ready to help them out from their difficulties not only in their studies but off the campus even.
Vision of the Department
- To provide the appropriate pedagogy to the students who are first or second generation learners from the rural areas.
- To nurture their skills and to properly guide them to choose their proper career path.
- To make them aware of the prospect in higher studies.
- To develop their reasoning skills and logical thinking to perform well in the competitive examinations.
Mission of the Department
- To nurture mathematically inclined students and encourage them to pursue higher studies.
- To prepare the students by providing a helpful environment, so that the students can excel not only in their studies but also worldwide in their future endeavors.
Department Rules
- For the regular course of study, the minimum attendance is 75% of the classes actually held in the semester.
- If a student stays absent for consecutive 4 days or more without the student needing to submit an application forwarded through their guardians.
- For the continuous assessment of the student there will be Class tests, Assignments, quizzes.
- Students can borrow and read the departmental books to study and can return them later.
- Department is planning to initiate a departmental library so that the needy students can access the books properly.

Message From HOD
Welcome to the department of Mathematics, Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya. The journey of the department has started from 2012 with B. Sc. General degree course affiliated to University of North Bengal. After another six years, the department has grown to B.Sc Hons. course in 2018. In spite of a shortage of faculty members, the department has continuously devoted itself to nurture the mathematically inclined students and transformed them into confident professionals with sound logical skills. Our aim is to provide an environment by offering quality teaching and research where students will enjoy learning the course and will be motivated by the future prospects of higher study and prepare themselves to excel in the competitive examinations. We always encourage hard working, attentive and dynamic students. On behalf of the entire department, I take the opportunity to invite you to the department of Mathematics.
