Distinctiveness

The Department of Sociology stands out for its unique approach to understanding human society. Unlike other disciplines, sociology takes a holistic view, examining the intricate web of social relationships, institutions, and structures that shape our lives. Distinctiveness of the department of Sociology lies in its emphasis on the inter-sectionality of various social factors, including race, class, gender, and culture. The department is able to cater to academic needs of students from various socio-cultural backgrounds such as tribals, rajbanshis, gorkhas and nepalis. These students come from distinct geographical locations nearby and far-off hills.

Sociology is known for its commitment to empirical research and evidence-based analysis, Sociologists employ a range of research methods, from quantitative surveys to qualitative interviews and ethnographic studies, to uncover patterns and trends in social behavior and relationships. This empirical approach allows sociologists to test theories, challenge assumptions, and develop a deeper understanding of social phenomena.
